The Billbergia 'Kolan Mulberry and Cream' is a hybrid bromeliad known for its striking foliage, featuring shades of purple and cream, often marbled or striped. It also produces vibrant floral spikes, making it a highly decorative plant.
Light: Prefers bright, indirect light but can tolerate lower light conditions.
Watering: Keep the central rosette lightly filled with water while avoiding excess moisture in the soil.
Substrate: Use a well-draining mix, such as orchid bark or a peat-based mix with perlite.
Humidity: Thrives in humid conditions but can adapt to drier environments.
Temperature: Ideal range is 15-25°C (59-77°F); avoid temperatures below 10°C (50°F).
Like all bromeliads, Billbergia 'Kolan Mulberry and Cream' produces offsets (pups) at its base after flowering. Once a pup reaches about ⅓ to ½ the size of the mother plant, it can be separated and potted individually.
How to propagate:
Allow the cut pup to dry for a few hours before planting.
Place it in a well-draining substrate and keep it slightly moist.
Wait a few weeks for it to establish roots.
