At JungleBox, we understand that each plant has unique needs. That’s why we offer a range of natural, plant-specific substrates, perfectly suited for indoor plants and terrarium setups. Whether you're caring for lush foliage in your home or crafting a self-sustaining tropical ecosystem in glass, our mixes ensure the right balance of drainage, aeration, moisture retention, and root health.
JungleBox Terrarium Substrate
A versatile mix specially designed for decorative terrariums, both closed and semi-open. Made of light soil, coconut fiber, perlite, and humus, it retains moisture without excess while staying airy and breathable. Perfect for tropical mini plants like fittonias, mosses, ferns, and small philodendrons.
Tropical Potting Mix
An ideal all-purpose base for most tropical houseplants and terrarium species. It holds moisture well without becoming soggy, providing a balanced medium for calatheas, marantas, peperomias, syngoniums, and more.
Premium Chilean Sphagnum Moss
Highly absorbent and naturally antifungal, sphagnum moss is excellent for maintaining humidity. It’s ideal for orchids, carnivorous plants, air plants (tillandsias), or as a rooting medium for cuttings and propagation.
Coconut Fiber (Coir)
Light, neutral, and eco-friendly, coco fiber improves aeration and moisture retention without becoming compacted. A great base for custom mixes or gentle repotting.
Pine Bark
Essential for orchids, bromeliads, and epiphytic plants, pine bark ensures excellent drainage and airflow. Also ideal as a decorative top layer in pots or terrariums.
Activated Charcoal
A must-have for closed terrariums. Placed above the drainage layer, it absorbs toxins, prevents odors, and reduces mold risk – helping maintain a healthy, stable environment.
Lava Rock (Pumice)
Highly porous and decorative, lava rock (pouzzolane) is perfect for base drainage or for improving airflow in heavier soils. It helps prevent root rot in closed systems.
Vermiculite
Retains moisture and nutrients while improving soil structure. Especially useful in mixes for humidity-loving plants like begonias, ferns, or tropical seedlings.
Perlite
White and ultra-lightweight, perlite improves drainage and keeps soil from compacting. Essential for succulents, cacti, and any plant sensitive to overwatering.
Organic Compost
Nutrient-rich and chemical-free, this compost enriches any mix with natural fertility. Use sparingly in aroids, philodendrons, begonias, or fast-growing species.
