Onyx Sand is a natural substrate rich in carbonates, untreated chemically. This dark gray sand is specifically designed for planted aquariums. It is highly enriched with magnesium, provides iron and other minerals, and supports optimal KH levels. Due to its high carbonate content, Onyx Sand offers plants the advantage of utilizing bicarbonates for growth. It also has a slight buffering capacity, capable of mildly increasing pH. Onyx Sand is highly porous, does not compact, and has a long lifespan, making it ideal for maintaining planted aquariums.
