Billbergia nutans, commonly known as Queen’s Tears, is a bromeliad native to South America (Brazil, Paraguay, Uruguay, and Argentina). Loved for its graceful flowers and easy care, it’s perfect as an indoor or garden plant.

Features:

  • Foliage: Long, arching leaves in a rosette with small spiny edges.
  • Flowers: Drooping flower spikes with pink bracts and tubular blooms in green, blue, and yellow.
  • Size: Grows 30–50 cm in height and width.

Care:

  • Light: Bright, indirect light, tolerates some direct sun.
  • Watering: Keep the central rosette filled with water; let the soil dry slightly between waterings.
  • Temperature: 18–24°C (65–75°F), not frost-hardy.
  • Soil: Well-draining mix, such as orchid substrate.
  • Propagation: By offsets ("pups") around the parent plant.

Its flowers produce drops of nectar, inspiring its poetic name. Easy to propagate, it’s also called the "Friendship Plant."
