Rhaphidophora elliptica ‘Mint’
Rhaphidophora elliptica ‘Mint’ is a cultivated selection derived from tropical Asian Rhaphidophora forms. Like most species in the genus, it originates from the humid forests of Southeast Asia, where it grows in shaded, warm and highly humid environments, typically as a climbing or semi-epiphytic plant.
The foliage is elliptic, slightly elongated, with a smooth and glossy texture. Its main feature is the “mint” variegation: bright light greens sometimes mixed with cream or pale green tones, creating a subtle and refined marbled effect. Each leaf shows unique variation, enhancing its ornamental value.
A flexible climbing plant, it produces stems capable of attaching to various supports (stakes, wood, cork). Growth is moderate but consistent, becoming denser when trained vertically.
Rhaphidophora elliptica ‘Mint’ thrives in bright indirect light, high humidity, and a rich yet well-draining substrate. Stable conditions enhance variegation intensity and overall plant vigor.
It is particularly suited for bright tropical layouts and vertical plant structures.
Light and airy mix composed of coconut fiber, sphagnum moss, perlite, and fine bark. A humid vertical support (wood, cork, or plant wall) significantly improves growth.
Keep the substrate slightly moist without excess. Avoid complete drying as well as waterlogging. Prefer soft or filtered water.
Ideally between 65% and 90%. High humidity promotes steady growth and larger, more contrasted leaves.
Optimal range: 20°C to 28°C. Avoid prolonged exposure below 16°C.
Moderate growth, which can accelerate under stable, warm and well-lit tropical conditions.
Plant sold in a 10 cm pot, height approximately 30–40 cm.
Train stems onto a support to encourage balanced vertical growth. Maintain high humidity and clean leaves regularly to preserve variegation brightness.
This cultivar is prized for its luminous foliage and rarity. It brings a fresh, elegant touch to tropical compositions and stands out for its soft visual appeal, highly valued in design terrariums and botanical collections.
