Epipremnum amplissimum 'Silver Stripe' is an elegant tropical climbing aroid prized for its long, narrow green leaves decorated with striking silver markings.
Its elongated foliage creates a much lighter and more refined silhouette than traditional pothos varieties. When trained over roots, cork panels or vertical backgrounds, it gradually develops a natural climbing habit particularly well suited to tropical displays.

Epipremnum amplissimum 'Silver Stripe'
'Silver Stripe' is a horticultural designation used for a form of Epipremnum amplissimum selected for its more pronounced silver foliage markings.
Epipremnum amplissimum is native from New Guinea to Vanuatu, with natural populations also occurring in Queensland and the Solomon Islands.
In nature, it grows as a climber in humid tropical forests.
The leaves are long, narrow, smooth and glossy, generally medium to dark green.
In the 'Silver Stripe' form, grey-silver to bright silver streaks create an elegant and highly graphic appearance.
Epipremnum amplissimum 'Silver Stripe' is naturally climbing. Its stems develop aerial roots that allow it to attach to trunks, natural roots and vertical supports.
Vertical cultivation encourages more mature growth and fully showcases its long elegant foliage.
Grow the plant against a natural root, cork panel, moss pole, Hygrolon or planted vertical background.
A slightly humid surface encourages aerial root attachment and allows the plant to gradually cover the structure.
Use a highly aerated and free-draining aroid mix containing coco chips, bark, perlite, sphagnum moss and light organic material.
The growing medium should remain lightly moist while allowing plenty of air around the roots.
Water when the upper layer of substrate begins to dry slightly.
Avoid stagnant water and use a highly aerated substrate with efficient drainage.
Humidity of approximately 60% to 85% is particularly suitable.
Higher humidity supports aerial root and foliage development, provided adequate airflow is maintained.
Ideal growing temperature: approximately 20°C to 28°C.
Avoid prolonged cold conditions and cool draughts.
Epipremnum amplissimum 'Silver Stripe' prefers medium to bright filtered light.
Good light helps enhance the silver markings and maintain compact growth. Avoid harsh direct sunlight.
Moderate to fast growth under warm, bright and humid conditions.
Stems can easily be trained or pruned to control their development in terrariums and paludariums.
Mature plants may produce typical aroid inflorescences consisting of a spathe and spadix.
In cultivation, however, the primary ornamental feature remains the elongated silver-marked foliage.
Propagation is easily carried out from stem cuttings containing at least one node and ideally an aerial root.
Train new growth onto its support and prune overly long stems when required.
Remove old or damaged foliage to maintain a dense and attractive plant.
Use a low-strength tropical plant or aroid fertiliser during active growth.
Avoid excessive feeding, particularly in terrariums and small substrate volumes.
More refined and graphic than a traditional pothos, 'Silver Stripe' combines long green leaves with elegant silver streaks for a distinctive tropical look.
Allowed to climb over roots or planted backgrounds, it gradually creates a fluid vertical layer of foliage that adds depth without visually overwhelming the display.
Provide a vertical support from the beginning. A natural root or slightly humid cork panel will encourage aerial root attachment and help the plant develop larger, more striking foliage.
Like many Araceae, Epipremnum amplissimum contains calcium oxalate crystals. The sap may be irritating and the plant should not be ingested.
