The JungleBox Fern Set – Tropical Terrarium brings together three complementary ferns selected to add volume, structure and a natural appearance to humid terrariums, paludariums and tropical planted displays.
This set combines Cyrtomium falcatum, Blechnum gibbum ‘Silver Lady’ and Microsorum pterosus. Together, they create a rich and balanced planted composition with varied foliage shapes and contrasting growth habits.
Cyrtomium falcatum stands out for its firm, glossy and elegantly divided fronds. Its foliage adds a structured and graphic touch, especially useful in the mid-ground of tropical displays.
Blechnum gibbum ‘Silver Lady’ gradually forms a dense and symmetrical rosette. Its long, fine fronds create a strongly tropical effect and make it an excellent focal plant.
Microsorum pterosus completes the set with softer, more natural-looking foliage, particularly well suited to tropical forest-style environments. It adds movement and helps create smooth transitions between planted areas.
This set is especially suitable for humid tropical terrariums, planted vivariums, paludariums and bioactive setups. The three ferns can be positioned at different levels to create greater depth and a more natural planted effect.
They may be used in enclosures for dart frogs, small tropical geckos, invertebrates and other species that appreciate humid environments, provided that the terrarium conditions also meet the specific requirements of the animals being kept.
Provide bright to moderate indirect light and avoid direct sunlight. Horticultural LED lighting or lighting designed for planted terrariums will support healthy and regular growth.
These ferns appreciate a humid atmosphere and relatively high ambient humidity. Regular misting is beneficial, while good airflow should be maintained to prevent stagnant moisture.
Keep the substrate slightly moist to fresh without allowing it to remain permanently waterlogged. Good drainage is essential to protect the root system.
Use a light, well-draining substrate rich in organic matter. A tropical terrarium mix containing plant fibres, fine bark, organic material and draining components is particularly suitable.
A temperature range of approximately 18 to 26°C is suitable for most tropical setups. Avoid cold draughts and sudden temperature changes.
For a balanced composition, Blechnum gibbum ‘Silver Lady’ can be placed in the background or used as a focal plant, Cyrtomium falcatum works well in the mid-ground, and Microsorum pterosus can be positioned around roots, rocks or other natural elements to create softer transitions.
This set provides an immediate combination of three ferns with different growth habits and foliage textures. It is an excellent choice for starting or enriching a tropical terrarium and achieving a denser, more natural and premium-looking result.
The plants included in this set are selected by JungleBox for their decorative value and their ability to integrate into tropical planted environments. As living plants, slight natural variations in size, shape and foliage may occur.
