Asplenium antiquum 'Leslie' is a compact tropical bird's nest fern prized for its unusually sculptural foliage. Its glossy fresh green fronds form a dense rosette and develop strongly waved, ruffled and divided tips as they mature.
Supplied in a Ø 6 cm pot, this young fern is especially suitable for tropical terrariums, emerged paludarium sections and planted displays where a compact but visually distinctive fern is needed.

Asplenium antiquum is an Asian tropical to subtropical fern, occurring naturally in areas including Taiwan.
'Leslie' is a horticultural selection grown for its strongly waved and frilled foliage.
The fronds are fresh to deep green, glossy, slightly leathery and arranged in a tight rosette.
In 'Leslie', the tips become strongly waved, pleated and divided, creating a frilled appearance that clearly distinguishes this cultivar from standard forms of Asplenium antiquum.
The plant forms a dense bird's nest rosette, with new fronds emerging gradually from the centre.
Mature plants can become substantial while retaining a compact and strongly structured appearance.
Use a light, humus-rich and free-draining substrate containing coco humus or fibre, fine bark, perlite and a small amount of sphagnum moss.
The substrate should remain lightly moist but never permanently saturated.
Maintain consistent moisture while allowing the surface to begin drying slightly between waterings.
Avoid allowing water to remain permanently in the centre of the rosette, especially in enclosed terrariums.
Humidity of approximately 60% to 85% is particularly suitable.
Higher humidity promotes healthy foliage, provided adequate airflow is maintained.
Ideal growing temperature: approximately 18°C to 27°C.
Avoid prolonged cold conditions.
Asplenium antiquum 'Leslie' prefers medium to bright filtered light.
Good indirect light encourages compact growth and well-formed fronds. Avoid harsh direct sunlight.
Slow to moderate growth. The juvenile 6 cm pot size makes it possible to watch the rosette develop and the characteristic ruffled foliage become increasingly pronounced.
Like all ferns, Asplenium antiquum 'Leslie' does not produce flowers or seeds.
It reproduces naturally through spores and may also be propagated by division when multiple growing points develop.
Remove only old or damaged fronds at the base.
Avoid unnecessary handling of new fronds while they are unfurling from the centre.
Use a very dilute fern or tropical plant fertiliser occasionally during active growth.
Light feeding is preferable to concentrated applications.
'Leslie' takes the classic bird's nest fern shape and adds a distinctive twist: its fronds finish in waves, pleats and frilled divisions that give the plant an almost sculpted appearance.
Supplied in a 6 cm pot, it is ideal for adding volume and movement to tropical displays without relying on a conventional large fern.
Place it in a bright but protected position with fresh, highly aerated substrate. In terrariums, avoid allowing misting water to accumulate constantly in the centre of the rosette.
